Aegis owns and operates a state of the art data centre in Godalming, Surrey. The data centre is equipped to support customers’ mission critical IT while delivering significant cooling efficiencies across all power densities, and has the power headroom to allow for IT consolidation and growth.
Rockpool has supported Aegis’ development providing both debt and equity growth capital to the business.
Airedale Catering Equipment
Leading provider of commercial kitchen solutions in the UK
Founded in 1985, Airedale is now the UK market leader in its sector, offering a full suite of services for customers including design, manufacturing of bespoke stainless steel products, build and fit-out and servicing of equipment. In the past two years, the Group has expanded into ventilation, cold stores, laundry, front-of-house interior design and catering supplies to provide complementary services to its core business and become a one-stop solution for customers.
Rockpool backed an MBO of Airedale in 2013.
Flexible electricity generation facility, providing back-up power
Attune Energy owns a flexible power generation plant in Plymouth, Devon. The plant uses highly responsive diesel engines and is able to provide 20 Megawatt generation standby capacity for the national grid as well as supply of power at times of peak network demand.
The company was funded by equity from Rockpool together with asset finance from RBS plc. Attune is one of nine companies Rockpool has invested in in the back-up power sector.
Bertram Nursery Group
The seventh largest nursery group in the UK
Bertram was formed in 2007, bringing together Happitots Day Nurseries Ltd, Strawberry Hill Nursery and other subsidiaries. Bertram Nursery Group has grown over the years and now operates multiple nurseries and a growing number of out of school care centres, meeting the needs of local families, communities and businesses across the United Kingdom.
Rockpool provided mezzanine loan finance to help support Bertram’s growth.
Fashion brand for mature women
Cotswold Collections Group Limited offers a unique range of women’s clothing and accessories, aimed at affluent older women. The in-house design team has considerable experience of creating designs that suit a mature female figure and fit within a classic British style. Using the direct retail channels of mail order catalogues, online and telephone, Cotswold Collections has successfully operated for over 20 years, maintaining the high quality design, materials, and manufacture of its products that so appeals to its large and loyal customer base.
Rockpool funding supported a management buyout of Cotswold Collections in June 2017, bringing in two new non-executives with strong investment and retail credentials to support the company’s growth plans.
On-site generated cost-effective and environmentally-friendly electricity and heat
Domino Energy Limited owns and operates natural gas fuelled combined heat and power (“CHP”) plants that provide on-site electricity, steam and hot water to customers on a local energy distribution network. CHP is significantly more efficient and environmentally-friendly than traditional power generation due to the high efficiency of the generator, the capture and use of waste heat and the avoidance of transmission losses, enabling customers to benefit from significant cost savings whilst reducing their environmental footprint.
Rockpool provided equity funding for the company’s two CHP projects in 2015. Domino Energy is one of three companies Rockpool has invested in in the CHP sector.
Owner and operator of gastropubs located in southern England and the Midlands
The Epic Pub Company own and operate gastropubs located in southern England and the Midlands.
The Epic management team target freehold acquisitions in or near market towns. The company expects to add value across its portfolio through operational improvement and enhancement or repositioning of the customer food and drink offering.
Since equity funding by Rockpool in 2015, Epic has acquired two freehold pubs to date, 185 Watling Street in Towcester and the Golden Ball in Maidenhead. In addition to Epic Pubs, Rockpool has invested three other pub companies.
Provider of outsourced whistleblowing and contact centre services
Expolink provides outsourced whistleblowing and contact centre services to over 500 customers. Its whistleblowing service offers business leaders an independent third party channel through which their employees, clients and suppliers may report suspected acts of impropriety such as fraud, abuse and misconduct, as well as violations of policy, regulation or law.
Rockpool invested in the company in 2016, backing a management team comprising three existing senior managers of Expolink and an experienced executive chairman.
UK provider of specialist refuelling, transportation and chemical storage equipment and services
Flofuel Limited designs, manufactures, sells and supports market-leading aviation refuelling equipment internationally under the well-established Flightline Support brand. Products include tankers for the transport of fuels, complex pumping and mixing systems mounted on self-powered or movable units and fuel farms, comprising underground tanks and pipe networks. Under the Flofuel Training brand, Flofuel provides the world’s first official training programme and BTEC Advanced Diploma qualification in aviation refuelling, recognised in over 100 countries.
Rockpool supported the management buyout of the company in 2016 and also provided growth capital to develop the services and training businesses.
Great British Botanical
Lancashire-based manufacturer of hand-made English glasshouses for gardeners
Great British Botanical Limited makes market-leading, aluminium-framed premium glasshouses, selling a wide range of Victorian-style, traditional and bespoke structures under the heritage brand, Hartley Botanic. Hartley Botanic is endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society and its customers include Grosvenor Estate, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and Royal Botanic Gardens Kew. The company sells to gardeners throughout the UK, United States and Europe.
In 2016 Rockpool funded a management buy-in and also provided additional capital to support US growth.
Offshore transport services provider
Heron Marine Limited is a new company that plans to provide offshore transport services to customers who construct and maintain offshore installations, such as wind farms.
There are currently over 7,000 grid-connected offshore wind turbines near the UK coastline. Installed capacity is expected to rise by 20% per annum over the next ten years, with many of the new installations further offshore. This creates a growing demand for crew transport and for larger vessels licensed to work.
Rockpool investors supported the acquisition of two new “Category 1” 24-passenger crew transfer vessels. The proposed vessels are specially designed to carry technicians and spare parts and to deliver fuel. Management of the vessels will be handled by an experienced team with a track record of operating similar vessels.
House of Hackney
Contemporary, luxury interiors brand.
Founded in 2011, House of Hackney designs and sells luxury interiors products, such as fabric, wallpaper, upholstery and homewares.
House of Hackney’s designs are inspired by a maximalist interpretation of nature, consciously moving away from the minimalism that has dominated interiors’ fashion for many years.
Already well-established in retail through its flagship boutique in Shoreditch and concessions in premium department stores, such as Harrods, Selfridges and Bergdorf Goodman, the company plans to drive growth online and through retailers and interior designers, supported by Rockpool’s investment in March 2017.
Kirkleatham Memorial Limited
Crematorium and memorial park in North Yorkshire
The Kirkleatham Memorial Park and Crematorium offers cremation, natural burial and traditional burial.
Located between Kirkleatham and the village of Yearby on Teesside, the facility has been designed using local materials and products. The memorial gardens and cemetery sections also offer memorialisation made mainly from British stone.
Rockpool’s funding in 2013 facilitated the purchase of the freehold land and construction of the park and crematorium which opened in January 2014. Rockpool has invested in five other companies in the crematorium sector in addition to Kirkleatham Memorial.

Knomo is an innovative lifestyle brand, designing bags & accessories that are beautiful on the outside and smart on the inside.
Knomo stands for KNOwledge and MObility. The Company’s products are sold through its own London-based boutique, in over 1,000 third-party retailers across 40 countries and through the Company’s website, www.knomo.com.
Knomo’s products get ‘Life Organised’ on the move, by combining intuitive functionality, cutting-edge technology and excellent craftsmanship.
Rockpool provided equity capital in 2016 to help the company grow in the UK and internationally.
IT maintenance services and solutions for a global customer base
NCE provides a range of IT maintenance services and solutions to a global customer base.
NCE’s core focus is on secure servers and data storage systems but it also offers equipment repairs and sells parts and systems. Since its foundation in 1981, the group has established a strong market presence in both the UK and the US and built strong relationships with IBM, Computacenter and HP, becoming one of only six approved service providers for the latter.
Rockpool supported an MBO in 2015 and also provided growth capital. A successful exit was achieved in 2017 when the Company was sold to Park Place Technologies. Rockpool equity investors achieved an IRR of 67%.
High-quality, family entertainment video games
Outright Games Limited specialises in the development and global publication of branded computer video games, targeted at children. Games are based on well-known characters promoted by global entertainment companies and are available across multiple console platforms. The Company has operations in both the UK and USA.
The company received growth funding from Rockpool in 2016 to develop a range of new titles.
Premium menswear brand
Valves and flexible hose solutions
Redcliffe Valves provides valves and flexible hose solutions to control the flow of water in showers, boilers, coffee vending machines and similar products, largely through its subsidiary, Hydralectric. Taking a design and solution orientated approach, Hydralectric works closely with customers to tackle technical challenges from the early design stages to the final product.
Rockpool supported a buyout-management buy-in of the company in 2016 bringing in a new experienced Chairman and CEO. Further growth funding was supplied to develop its solenoid valve business.
Automotive engineering business and owner of leading performance parts brand
The Revolve group is an automotive engineering business which owns a leading performance parts brand, Mountune. The Mountune division, whose products are used by consumers and racing teams to enhance engine performance, has grown rapidly in the UK as well as the US, where it was launched in 2013, with exclusive access to the Ford dealership network in both territories. The Group supplies branded performance parts, motorsport race engines and racing team support under the Mountune brand and provides engineering services under the Revolve name.
Rockpool provided a package of debt and equity funding to the company in 2015 to support growth.
Specialist contractor in the care home market.
A specialist contractor in the care home market, Rivington Construction undertakes turnkey construction projects. The company’s most recent project was the design and build of a 72 bedroom facility in Ayr, Scotland for an established care home operator.
The Company received equity and debt growth capital in 2013. Rockpool exited the business in 2017, achieving an IRR of 16%.
Storage services provider in West London
Storage services provider, operating from a single 36,000 square foot facility in West London.
The company offers a complete range of high quality, service orientated storage solutions to both commercial and personal customers. The facility is managed under contract by Ready Steady Store Limited, one of the top ten operators of managed storage businesses in the UK.
Rockpool provided debt and equity funding to acquire and fit out the company’s facility near Heathrow and to provide working capital to the business. Rockpool has invested in three other companies in the storage services sector in addition to Salus Services.

Urban Village Pub Company Limited owns and operates both freehold and leasehold pubs located in London and southern England.
The Urban Village management team target properties that have been underperforming or are in need of refurbishment. The company adds value across its portfolio through operational improvement and enhancement or repositioning of the customer food and drink offering.
Since equity funding by Rockpool in 2017, Urban Village has acquired three freehold pubs to date: the Kings Head and Bell in Oxfordshire; the Craft & Grill in Walton-on-Thames; the Village in Walthamstow; and the Southsea Village, a leasehold property located in the seaside town of Southsea in Hampshire. In addition to Urban Village, Rockpool has invested three other pub companies.
Designer and manufacturer of high quality technical workwear
Wear to Work Solutions Limited is a British designer and manufacturer of high quality technical workwear catering to most industrial needs. Through its subsidiary Wearwell, the company has significant manufacturing capability in the UK and is able to provide customers with fast response times along with a range of value-added services, including alterations, embroidery and heat seals. Wearwell has a proud history of customer satisfaction based on service, quality, innovation and price, with many leading global blue-chip brands using its garments.
In August 2017, Rockpool invested growth funding into Wear to Work and further funding to support a management buy-in, management buy-out of Wearwell.
The Wandsworth Preschool
New nursery in Wandsworth, London
The Wandsworth Preschool is a new nursery which opened in September 2016. Set in the Riverside Quay area of Wandsworth, this brand new facility has been designed to provide a spacious, warm and stimulating environment for children aged three months to five years old.
Employing specialist teachers and the use of specifically designed laboratories, Wandsworth Preschool develops a unique curriculum for each child focused on their needs, talents, abilities and interests which encourages children to explore, discover and learn.
Rockpool provided debt and equity to the fund the acquisition and fit-out of the long leasehold property, and for working capital. Rockpool has also invested in three other nursery companies in addition to the Wandsworth Preschool.
