Our Chairman, Nicola Horlick, and Managing Partner, Matt Taylor, are guest speakers at the Alternative Investment Summit at the Barbican, London on 27th November 2013. The Summit will cover everything relevant today in the alternative investment industry, including EIS Investments.
On Wednesday 2nd October, we hosted our first investee reporting day at our offices at Times Place, 45 Pall Mall.
Over 40 investors and a number of Independent Financial Advisors attended the all-day event to receive updates from Rockpool’s 7 existing portfolio companies. Taking place in individual meeting rooms, the day was planned to give investors the ability to attend all 7 company sessions.
Guests received a full update from the management team of each investee company and also had the opportunity to ask any questions on the performance and development of the business.
Over an informal lunch, guests were also able to meet with the management of Rockpool’s latest two investment opportunities; a new state of the art data centre and a talent performance management system.
The day allowed investors to receive full transparency on their holdings; a founding principle of Rockpool’s approach.

Our chairman, Nicola Horlick has been commenting on the latest statistics which show that the number of SME’s applying to raise funds using the enterprise investment scheme has soared: “It’s great to see the overhaul of the enterprise investment rules working so well, giving a huge boost to SME’s by enabling them to replace vital lost bank funding, and giving investors more scope to benefit from significant tax reliefs on their investments.” Visit the full article @Rockpool_UK

On 9th May 2013, we will be participating in the EIS & Angel Investing – Advisor Showcase, which is being held for financial advisers and their HNW clients. Since rule changes were introduced a year ago, an increasing number of UK businesses have been raising money under the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) – so what better time for financial advisers and their clients to get to grips with it and all it has to offer?
We recently appeared in a high profile Sunday Times article by Ali Hussain (03.03.2013), which focussed on cutting tax through creative use of simple reliefs, such as the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS). The article highlighted benefits of EIS that are often overlooked – some investors are still not aware that if you invest a gain to defer the payment of a 28% CGT bill you can also claim 30% income tax relief on the gain invested.
We have just completed a £3 million part EIS-qualifying investment in the management buyout of the Airedale Group of companies. Established in 1986, the Airedale Group, which is based near Bradford, West Yorkshire, designs, builds, installs and services large commercial kitchens for independent and leading national hospitality customers across many sectors.
